Windows Phone 7 in October

Microsoft’s COO Kevin Turner has clarified earlier this week the launch date for Windows 7 Phone: In October, the smartphone will be available in Europe, starting in November in the U.S.

Some things have been clarified via Microsoft’s “technical evangelist” Frank Prengel: The synchronization of emails, addresses and contacts is done via protocols such as IMAP and Exchange, so that not only Microsoft services are available, but for example, and Google contacts. The photo application integrates images from Facebook and Windows Live services such as Flickr or Picasa, you could potentially aggregate via Windows Live. Music and video come via USB Sync or via Zune or via Microsfts’ SkyDrive onto the device.

Office documents, you get via Office SharePoint Cloud service, or simply loaded USB or mail. Notes in OneNote are automatically synchronized. Other Cloud services like Google Docs or drop box are at the moment not supported.

So be sure, I’ll try to get on of these new devices asap. I’ll keep you updated on the features and the look and feel.
